My Fellow Chimpanzees
For week 4 muddiest point I wanted to talk about something in Thank You For Arguing. In the chapter Speak Your Audience's Language the writer explains that it is because people feel divided that they engage in demonstrative gestures to reunite themselves. I don't know if it's because of my lack of understanding their message or if it's because they're really not making any sense to me. I know from my point of view when I've hurt someone I apologize not to gain unity, but I do so out of a sense of making right something I have done wrong. I feel bad that I've hurt someone, whether it was deliberate or not, I feel the need to set things straight. I don't do this because I want there to be solidarity between me and my fellow chimpanzees (just kidding), I do it because it is the right thing to do.
